WorldatWork Certification Timeline Changes
In order to ensure that WorldatWork Society certifications are truly validating a professional’s currency of skills and knowledge, WorldatWork Society of Certified Professionals is introducing limits to the amount of time an exam will count toward a certification. Effective January 2013, exams within the certification tracks for CCP, CBP, GRP and WLCP will be valid for eight years.
Having time limits on certification programmes:
o Strengthens the credibility of a Society member’s professional designation
o Ensures that Society exams verify that a certification candidate’s knowledge and skills are up-to-date
o Encourages customers to complete their certification in a timely manner
o Aligns with the practices of other credentialing organizations.
Please note that this change will have minimal impact on certification candidates because 95% of certification candidates achieve certification within eight years. In fact, most candidates take four to six years. For those pursuing dual certification, the average time is 5.1 years.
If customers take longer than eight years to complete their certification, any exam that they passed more than eight years ago will no longer be valid toward certification. Customers may retake the exam at the current retake rate.
