Apply for a SARA Professional Designation
Follow the steps below to prepare your documents, submit your online application, and understand the review timelines.

To apply for individual registration in one of the SARA professional designations, please complete the online application form:

The online application will ask for your personal details, qualification information, work experience and supporting documents.
Accreditation Committee meeting dates – 2026
- 4 March 2026
- 10 June 2026
- 30 September 2026
Submit your application well before one of these dates to ensure it can be included in that review cycle.
Step 3: Recognition of Prior Learning (if applicable)
If you do not meet the formal qualification requirements in the designation framework but have gained relevant skills and knowledge through work and other learning, you may apply through SARA’s Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process.
The RPL policy explains eligibility, evidence requirements and how your application will be evaluated.

Quick checklist before you submit
- You have read the CPD Guidelines and Code of Conduct for professional designations.
- You have completed all sections of the online application form.
- All required supporting documents are uploaded and clearly legible.
- Your registration details are accurate and up to date.
Once submitted, your application will be assessed by the SARA Accreditation Committee. You will be notified once your registration has been approved.

Applicants are responsible for obtaining the SAQA certificate confirming the South African equivalent of their qualification.
