SARA Internship Programme
The SARA Internship programme was started in 2006 with the intention to develop previously disadvantaged South African graduates with a passion for the reward profession, into proficient reward professionals. The programme runs for six months every year and is structured to provide an opportunity for graduates to learn the basics of the reward profession and offer them employment opportunities in the reward field after the end of the programme. There is a severe shortage of reward skills in the country, and this programme assists the association in growing the pipeline of reward professionals.
Remuneration Management Internship Offered
The South African Reward Association (SARA) is looking for interns to embark on an excellent development opportunity. The Johannesburg based internship will cover a 6 month period from 1 March 2012 to 31 August 2012. The interns will be exposed to various areas of remuneration at some of South Africa’s leading organisations under the expert guidance of senior reward specialists. Thereafter a one-year contract with one of the sponsoring organisations will follow.
Application criteria include the following:
· Bona fide Previously Disadvantaged (PDI) South African Citizen
· Qualification:
o Bachelor degree in any of the following disciplines:
- Industrial Psychology
- Human Resources Management
- Organisational Psychology
- People Management
o An Honours degree in any of the above will be advantageous
· Passionate about the Reward profession
· Articulate, analytical and a preference to work with detail
· Computer literate
· Resourceful, structured and resilient
· Own transport is essential (Johannesburg, Pretoria and surrounding areas) for the duration of the internship
· Will require to arrange own accommodation in Johannesburg for the duration of the internship
· During the course of the internship, interns will be required to complete the Global Remuneration Professional (GRP) study programme
· Must be willing to relocate to anywhere in South Africa upon completion of the internship
· Required to accept employment with one of the sponsoring organisations after successful completion of the internship
Applicants undertake to participate in a selection process that may include an interview process, psychometric testing and communication competency testing, both verbal and written.
During and on completion of the internship program, the interns will be required to complete a formal assessment and deliver presentations to the SARA Executive Committee and Sponsor Companies.
